The FirstClass Personal is the software required to work offline and then sync to FirstClass servers. It is designed for use with FirstClass Business or Education Edition version 8.3 and has all the trusted communication and collaboration functions of previous FirstClass Personal products. You are free to install and distribute this software providing it is distributed in its entirety and no modifications are made. All other rights are reserved by Open Text Corporation. Requirements www.firstclass.com/products/SysReq/ 1  You can only synchronize Contacts, Calendar, Documents and Bookmarks with B393 servers and higher.  When connected with an older server, Personal will function similar to previous versions of Personal. 2  You cannot synchronize Personal and the FirstClass Palm Conduits with the same online account. 3  If you have upgraded your PPO, then make sure that identical items in the Contacts, Calendar, Bookmarks, or Documents do not appear in both the online container and the offline container before the initial synchronization.  If you don't do this the item will be duplicated in both the online and the offline container. *********************************** C. Installation 1 You must have a correctly installed version of the shipping FirstClass® Client 8.301 or greater for Windows on your PC before proceeding. 2 Download the FCPERS83B392PPC.dmg archive into a temporary folder. 3 Run the installer. If you are running a pre 7.0 Personal setup - You will not see the option to check or uncheck "install a new PPO" and "Install Personal"- there is no choice. - You will still be asked if you want to use your old PPO or install a new one. - If you browse and select to have your old PPO copied to the new 8.0 location you will be told this isn't possible and a new PPO will be needed. - You will be given the option to complete the install resulting in a new PPO in the 8.x location (old ppo left alone) or quit the install. - Users are also told they can upgrade to 7.0 and then run this upgrader if they prefer. - Inside PPO\SERVER a Batch folder will be created and populated - The Personal exe will be installed as well. If you are running a 7.0/7.1 Personal setup - You will not see the option to check or uncheck "install a new PPO" and "Install Personal" - You can choose to "Upgrade" your existing PPO, it will be copied from it's current location (user is asked to select current location) to the 8.0 location. - Inside PPO\SERVER a Batch folder will be created and populated - The Personal exe will be installed as well.         - OR - - You can choose to install a new PPO.   The new 8.3 version will be installed to the 8.x location - The Personal exe will be installed as well. If you are running a 8.0 - 8.2 Personal setup - You will not see the option to check or uncheck "install a new PPO"  and "Install Personal" - You can choose to "Upgrade" your existing PPO or Install a new PPO" - Upgrading will get you  - Inside PPO\SERVER a Batch folder will be created and populated - The Personal exe will be installed as well.         - OR - - Installing New will delete the old PPO and install a new 8.3 version. - The Personal exe will be installed as well. If you are running a 8.3 Personal setup - You will get the window to check or uncheck the PPO & Personal so either or both may be installed. - You can choose to "Use your existing PPO" or "Install a new PPO". - Use existing = no change - Install New = Removal of current PPO and installation of a fresh copy. - Personal will only be installed if checked. 4 Once installation is complete you can remove the archives and the temporary folder. *********************************** D. Release Notes Fixes and Changes - FirstClass Personal now synchronizes the Contacts, Calendar, Documents and Bookmarks containers.    All changes (add, deletes, modifies) will be synchronized between these offline Personal containers and their corresponding online containers. - FirstClass Personal does not synchronize subcontainers at this time. - The Mailbox and Offline Conferences will operate the way they have in the past.  Mail and new conference entries will be routed from your Online account to Personal. Mail sent from Personal will be routed to the online FirstClass server. - Attachment names longer than 31 characters are no longer truncated. Known Issues - Attachments icons are not preserved in the sync process. - Extended characters in the document name get corrupted after replication. - Long conference names are truncated when replicated to PRA from Offline Conferences folder. - If a file is uploaded to online mailbox, "Mailbox" conference with this file gets created in the Offline Conferences. *********************************** FirstClass is a registered trademark of Open Text Corporation.
